Course Structure:

The Basic Area of Application (ABI) on "Sciences of Nature" allows the student to choose, after the third semester either the undergraduate degree in Biology, Physics or Chemistry. After enrollment, the student will attend a common curricular matrix, containing subjects from the pedagogic, propaedeutic and nature sciences and their technologies, during the first three semesters. From the fourth semester on, the curricular matrix becomes different for each course.

 

Professional Profile:

The Physics undergraduate student is a professional who, supported by solid and up-to-date knowledge in Physics, is able to approach and talk about new and traditional problems and is always concerned with trying to find new forms of scientific and technological knowing and doing. They are able to work in Basic Education, teaching, research and educational extension and apt to continue their academic training through admission to Education, Science or Technology postgraduate programs. They deal with the formation and dissemination of the knowledge on Physics in different social instances, in formal education or through informal education, in museums of science or related areas, besides being able to coordinate activities associated with the popularization of Physics. They are able to plan and make didactic material for Physics teaching and learning, such as textbooks, CDs, videos, computer programs, etc. From their teaching tasks, they contribute to a better quality of life and, consequently, to the critical exercise of citizenship.
